The Process

CrazyUI solves a real problem in the design ecosystem: premium, interactive components that actually work inside Figma and Framer without plugin friction or expensive platform lock-in.

The product is split across two systems that work in sync. The design-facing layer lives inside Framer — handling the UI, component display, and the copy-paste experience designers rely on. But everything that makes the product function as a business was built separately: a custom Next.js application running its own auth, database, payments, and access logic.

The key technical challenge was making these two surfaces behave as one. Figma and Framer's internal clipboard formats were reverse-engineered to enable native component transfer — no plugins, no exports, just copy and paste directly into the design tool as if it were built in. Smart URL strategies and shared state between the Framer frontend and the Next.js backend keep user sessions, membership status, and payment state consistent across both platforms at all times.

The custom backend is built with Next.js, Supabase, and PostgreSQL handling the data layer. Dodo Payments processes transactions. GSAP and Tailwind CSS handle animation and UI. Shadcn provides the component foundation on the admin and payment surfaces. Auth is fully custom — detecting whether a user is a free member, paid subscriber, or first-time visitor and adjusting access accordingly in real time.

The result is a product that delivers a premium, polished experience to designers while running on zero Framer platform costs. Launched publicly and hit 10,000+ users on day one. The platform sustains daily active usage and generates recurring revenue.
